What can't be helped is out of your control
It can't be changed
What can you do life goes on
So it goes, so it goes
What can you do?
That's just the way life is
Bad or great, you better accept it
Because the show must go on, must go on
'Cause life goes on
So roll on
Oh well, as it was as it is
Whatever happens so be it
That's how it turns out
So they say
That's how the story goes
So it goes
So it goes, so it goes
So it goes, so it goes
So It Goes Lyrics
Listen while you read
It can't be changed
What can you do life goes on
So it goes, so it goes
What can you do?
That's just the way life is
Bad or great, you better accept it
Because the show must go on, must go on
'Cause life goes on
So roll on
Oh well, as it was as it is
Whatever happens so be it
That's how it turns out
So they say
That's how the story goes
So it goes
So it goes, so it goes
So it goes, so it goes
What “So It Goes” means
“So It Goes” is a song made entirely of clichés, written in the later months of the pandemic, when so much was literally out of our control. The title is a direct reference to Kurt Vonnegut, who used the phrase 106 times in Slaughterhouse-Five, saying it over and over after deaths. My use of it is a much less dramatic shrug at personal hardship. It's a saying that expresses a resignation to things as they are, so you can make peace and move on. Because life goes on.
